Instagram and Gastronomy: For Better & For Worst

Instagram has become an essential showcase for restaurateurs. It is one of the tools foodies prefer when it comes to following news about gastronomy professionals. #Food has more than 250 million posts on the social network, and 27% of people visiting Instagram share this type of content. Finally, food lovers consume four times more content than average users and they connect on Instagram from morning to evening, an average of 18 times a day.
But, many questions remain: Does it taste as good as it looks? How has Instagram changed the way we eat? What influence does Instagram have on restaurants and chefs? How have restaurants adapted to this medium? How do they use it? What are the advantages and disadvantages?

In order to answer these questions, and to better understand the complex relationship between gastronomy and Instagram, #mtlenlumiere will gather some of the most influential culinary Instagrammers from Quebec and the US around the same table: Élise Tastet (more than 33,000 subscribers) Antonin Mousso (more than 32,000) and international chef Camille Becerra (more than 84,000 subscribers). Please note that the event will be held in English.
